Heavenly Father, Tomorrow starts our 40 Days of Purpose journey at New Life. I thank You for bringing us to this point in our life as a congregation. I praise You for what You have done in my life and what You are going to do today and in the future. I pray for everyone who will be fasting in preparation for the 40 Days of Purpose today. I pray that their focus may be totally on You and that You may bless them with spiritual food as they fast! God, I pray for the leaders on the 40 Days of Purpose team that You will continue to guide and direct them as they go about this time of guiding us to determine and live Your purposes in our lives. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit today that all that I am and do will serve to advance the coming Kingdom of Your Son, and my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. This I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Habukkuk 3:2
2Lord, I have heard the news about you; I am amazed at what you have done. Lord, do great things again in our time; make those things happen again in our own days.
What, would be the greatest thing that God could do in your life right now?
What do you hope will have changed in your life when we have completed the 40 Days of Purpose?
What is the biggest blessing you have ever received from the Lord to this point in your life?
What does Habakkuk remember about God?
What does Habakkuk want God to do?
What assurance would Habakkuk have that God WOULD do these things?
Why do you suppose that the prophet Habakkuk was desiring for God to do miracles again in his day? What does this tell us about the days in which he lived?
What do you think would happen in America, if God started using the church to do the kinds of miracles that took place in the first century church?
What one action do you need to take as a result of reading today’s Scripture?
Habakkuk’s request rings true in our time, doesn’t it? Haven’t you ever wished that God would do the kind of miracles that we read about when the Israelites were in oppression in Egypt, or when Jesus walked on the earth, or in the early church when miracles seemed to happen every day? Well, Habakkuk’s prayer is our vision for the 40 Days of Purpose. Those on the leader team for 40 Days have been praying for a new release and outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We’ve been praying for exponential growth to take place in our hearts and lives, as well as in the number of folks who receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Who would have thought that we would have 25 or so LIFE groups meeting during the 40 Days of Purpose, when we started planning back in July? Who would have thought that God would bring three new staff people on board who are so passionate about worshiping and serving the Lord and seeing lost people come to know Jesus—just BEFORE the 40 Days of Purpose begins? Who knows what God is going to do in each of us and in all of us and the community around us as a result of intentional, focused prayer and commitment during this season of spiritual growth and renewal. I can’t wait to see the results, and I’m so eagerly anticipating the process! The mission of New Life Christian Ministries is well-known to each of us: sharing the new life of Jesus Christ with the world—one person at a time. May this next two months be a time for seeing God multiply that vision within us and beyond us to His glory and honor!
