My Prayer Today

Dear Lord,  I want to thank you for your Word.  Thank you for speaking to me in the pages of the Bible.  Help me to hide your words in my heart so that I will not sin against you.  Lord, I do want to receive a new vision and dream from you.  I ask that you would give me the Spirit of discernment to see whether you are speaking, I am speaking, or the enemy is speaking.  I want to know your voice.  Draw me so that I will seek you today in your word.  I ask this in the name of Jesus. . .Amen.

God's Word For Me Today

Ephesians 3:20

"Now glory be to God!  By His mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope for."

Reflecting on God's Word

Does this passage encourage or discourage "asking" and "hoping" for something?  Why?

If we ask for something that God's word tells us to ask for, will God do it?

Why should we know what the Bible says?

A Deeper Exploration of God's Word

According to Galatians 5:22-23, what are the "fruit" of the Spirit?

If the Holy Spirit gives you a dream or a vision, will these fruits be manifested in your thoughts and attitudes?  Why?  If these fruits are not manifested, is the vision from the Holy Spirit?

Why did God demonstrate his power in this case?

Understanding God's Purpose

Will God ever contradict Himself?

Will God ever give you a dream or a vision that violates what He has already spoken in Scripture?  Why?

Does God still speak to us today?  How?

Applying God's Word to Our Lives

How do you know when God has spoken to you?

How often do you read your Bible?

Name 5 things that would prove that someone loves God's Word.  Are these things true of you?

Thoughts...

Scripture is God's authoritative word for our lives.  Within the pages of the Bible we can discover God's ultimate design.  As we familiarize ourselves with God's word we will be able to discern His voice.  The devil will also try to speak to us by telling us to walk away from all that God has planned.  As we read God's word we will able to know when God speaks and when the enemy speaks.  God will never contradict himself.  He will not say one thing in the Bible and then speak to someone in a "dream" or "vision" to do something else.  The devil will try to disguise himself as an "angel of light" and think that we are listening to God when we actually are listening to the enemy.  It is so important that we as Christians understand, when talking about dreams and visions, that all God-given dreams will always reaffirm what is in the Bible and not contradict it.

People who desire to receive a God-given dream must immerse themselves in Scripture.  When we are unfamiliar with what God has already spoken, the opportunity for the enemy's deception in our lives becomes much greater.  God reveals Himself in His word.  Sometimes we can get so caught up with the supernatural that we neglect to seek God in the ordinary things of life.  When we seek the Lord with all of our hearts in Scripture we are making ourselves available to receive the promises, the purposes, the dreams, and the visions of God.  There is nothing that God will ever give us in a "spoken" word or a dream or vision that is contrary to what He has already spoken in Scripture.  Take time today to read and meditate upon God's word -- you may just find another dream!
