A note about online study
Heavenly Father, Thank You that no matter what happens in life, I can fully rely on You! I praise You that You care more for me than I care for myself. Thank You for sending Jesus into the world to rescue me from sin and death, and to deliver me from all the delays, difficulties and dead-ends of life. I pray that You will fill me with Your Holy Spirit right now, that I may trust You more fully, and live in Jesus’ name more completely than ever before. Bless those who have special needs of life today, whether a need for comfort in grief, physical healing, or simply strength to trust You more. Thank You for loving me and giving me new life through Jesus. It is in His name and for the sake of His coming Kingdom that I pray. Amen.
Psalm 27:10-13
10Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.
11Teach me how to live, O LORD. Lead me along the path of honesty, for
my enemies are waiting for me to fall.
12Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I’ve never done and breathe out violence against me.
13Yet I am confident that I will see the
LORD’S goodness while I am here in the land of the living.
At what age did you start relying fully on God in your life? Or have you begun to rely fully on Him?
What assurance do you have right now that God is always with you to deliver you in times of “dead-ends”?
According to King David, what assurance do we have that God will be with us? (27:10)
What was going on in David’s life that caused Him to call on God? (27:11-12)
What attitude did David hold toward God during his time of “dead-end?”
What do we see of God’s purpose for David in today’s Scripture?
How does this relate to God’s purpose in our lives when we go through times of delay, difficulty and dead-ends?
What do you find in David’s that you can apply in your own prayer life right now?
The acronym FROG—fully relying on God, reminds us that even when we come to dead-ends in life, God is with us and we can rely FULLY on Him! King David faced many dead-ends in His life. He faced a giant that no one but him dared to confront—Goliath, and by God’s deliverance David emerged victorious. David faced an angry King Saul, who was jealous of the favor David held among the people. Even though King Saul attempted to kill David, and had soldiers hunt him everywhere, God delivered David and ultimately gave David the throne in Israel. Even when David created his own dead-end through His sin with Bathsheba, and then having her husband, Uriah, killed, God provided forgiveness and deliverance to David. David’s life provides us with great hope, because we see that God CAN and DOES deliver us from delays, difficulties and dead-ends, as we fully rely on Him. David was CONFIDENT—in other words he fully relied on God—and God’s response was to bless him and to use him to glorify God! The truest evidence of our love for God is that we obey Him, which means that we trust Him and rely on Him. Jesus said that we are His disciples, and that we love Him if we do what He says! May that be the reality and reliance of our lives today!
