My Prayer Today

Heavenly Father, I thank Your for giving me Your Holy word.  Thank You for Your love letter to me – the Bible.  I ask that You would help me to be a person who consistently reads Your Word.  I ask that Your Word would abide deeply in my heart.  I also ask that I would continually speak Your Word to others, so that they may hear the Gospel.  I ask this in Jesus’ name. . . Amen.

God’s Word Today—Matthew 25:34-40

34 “Then the King will say to those on the right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  35 For I was hungry, and you fed me.  I was thirsty, and you gave me drink.  I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.  36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing.  I was sick, and you cared for me.  I was in prison, and you visited me.’  37 Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you?  Or thirsty and give you something to drink?  38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality?  Or naked and give you clothing?  39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?  40 And the King will tell them, ‘I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”

Reflecting on God’s Word

The Word of God is central to the Christian faith.  The Bible is God’s precious promise to us!  His word is truth and life for all who believe.  If the Word of God is central to our faith, it’s important that we be a people who consistently read His word.  It’s His love letter to us.  We don’t read His word simply to get a “gold star” for the week, or to say we did so that our guilt is satisfied.  We read God’s word because we love Him, and anything that He has to say to us.  If we knew someone loved us and wanted to send us a letter to tell us something important, we would be significantly inclined to open the letter to find out what they had to say.  The same is true with God.  He gave us His word to tell us something important – that we don’t have to go to hell if we put our faith in Jesus Christ.

Because God’s Word is central to the Christian faith, it’s imperative that we not only become familiar with it, but also share it with others.  God wrote this “love letter” to the world, therefore, we are called to share it with all people everywhere.  Make God’s Word your priority this day – both privately and publicly.

A Deeper Exploration of God’s Word

According to Romans 10:17, faith comes by listening to the “good news” (the Word of God).  Why is the Word of God so important?

Thoughts

When we think of “feet,” we normally don’t think of the most beautiful part of our bodies.  Our feet, because of the wear and tear of daily activity, become calloused and often dirty.  They don’t always bring forth the most pleasant fragrance this world has to offer!  Yet despite these facts, the Bible says that feet can be beautiful.  Romans 10:15 states, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”  In the Bible days, messengers would carry messages from village to village, or perhaps even from nation to nation, and held in important role in daily life.  Without a messenger, news of coming threats of war, or visiting kings or queens would not be readily available.  The messenger was extremely important.

God says that we as Christians as “messengers.”  We carry the good news of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.  We may not think of our feet as lovely, but they are, when we use them to carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The same could be true of our mouth, or our fingers – when they write or type God’s truth.  When we give God our bodies for His purpose, He calls them beautiful.  Make your body beautiful today, as you use your hands, your feet, your mind, and your mouth to give praise to God!
