My Prayer Today

Thank God for loving us, for forgiving us, for redeeming us to be His children.

God’s Word Today

We will be reading from various portions of God’s Word today.

Reflecting on God’s Word

We are going to look at our responsibilities as believers today.  We are going to explore how we can be SOLD out Christians for Jesus!

SEEK.

This is the first step.  We are to seek to find God’s will in any situation.

What would the Lord want me to do? should be the question we ask of ourselves.

How can we know God’s purpose – plan – for us?

God will not force His will upon us.  It is His responsibility to seek it out.

A Deeper Exploration of God’s Word

OBEY.

Once we seek God’s will and find it, it is our responsibility to obey it.  Read the Scriptures below and circle the words that show us what we are to do and draw a line under the words that tell us what we are not to do or the consequences of disobedience:

James 1:22:  22 And remember, it is a message to obey, not just to listen to. If you don't obey, you are only fooling yourself.

James 4:17:  17 Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

1 Samuel 15:23a:  23 Rebellion is as bad as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as bad as worshiping idols.

Understanding God’s Purpose for Us

Our purpose is to LOVE.  Who are we to love?

Matthew 22:37-39:  37 Jesus replied, "'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

Who is your neighbor?

Matthew 5:43-46: 43 "You have heard that the law of Moses says, 'Love your neighbor' and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and on the unjust, too. 46 If you love only those who love you, what good is that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much.

What about our enemies?  Are we to love him or her?

Applying God’s Word to Our Purpose

DEMONSTRATE.

Love means nothing if it is not shown, shared, put into action.  We are to demonstrate to the world what a Christian is.

The world has plenty of examples of what a Christian is not.

What are some examples of what a Christian is?

Thoughts

A church that loves Jesus and seeks to follow Him is SOLD out for Him!

SEEK

OBEY

LOVE

DEMONSTRATE

In 2007, pray that God will help us be SOLD out each and every day.

Write an action plan for how you can become SOLD out for Jesus in 2007:
