Day 33: Overflowing Gratitude!

10and you are complete through your union with Christ. He is the Lord over every ruler and authority in the universe.  Colossians 2:10

In today’s Scripture, the Apostle Paul makes an important statement regarding our “completeness.”  As human beings, we are born “incomplete.”  Sin’s entrance into the world took away our completeness.  When God created Adam and Eve, they were complete.  They were one with God, and each other.  They lived in a perfect world, with a perfect environment.  Then they sinned, and nothing on earth has ever been perfect since—except Jesus!  As followers of Jesus, as those who have accepted Him as Lord, our lives have been restored.  In fact, the transformation is so complete that Jesus called it being “born again.”  As you and I go about each day, we have the opportunity to live in that completeness by the grace and power of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is the one who unites us with Jesus.  He is Jesus’ presence on earth, and His living in us means that we are, indeed, complete, because we are united with Jesus!

Notice that Paul also told us that Jesus is the Lord not only of us, but also “…over every ruler and authority in the universe.”  That doesn’t leave anyone or any place out, does it?  Jesus’ authority as Lord is absolute.  That means if we want to live the lives we were created to live, we must join our lives to Him.  As we do that, the result will be overflowing gratitude, because we will once again be in the state of relationship with God and one another that God designed us for in the fabric of creation.  May today be a day when we recognize Jesus’ authority and live it fully and gratefully in His name!
