Just finished reading Imaginary Jesus by Matt Mikalatos. What a great book! Matt's humor and style disarm you, while his penetrating insight into our tendency to create the Jesus we want--imaginary Jesuses, as he calls them--hit deep into the spirit. While Imaginary Jesus is a "light" read on the surface, like Shrek's "onion" it has many layers and I'll be thinking about them for a long time to come. I read it in my devotional time and commend it as a devotional read, but a group could easily make it the focus of an in depth discussion. Pick up a copy, or download it to your Kindle. You'll be glad you did! |
