If you haven't picked up Francis Chan's latest book, Erasing Hell, get it!j Chan and co-author, Preston Sprinkle, dig into God's word and tell us what the Bible actually says about hell, not what others may think or have written about it.  The book combines solid biblical research and Chan's usual engaging style.  Two of the most powerful quotes from the book are:  "We need to stop apologizing for God, and start apologizing to God..."  (For those who think we need to help God out when He says and does things we find hard to accept---such as sending people to hell for rejecting Him.)  "Hell is real. Am I?"  (That one I'm going to let you read the book, and interpret for yourself!)  Where Chan and Sprinkle come down on hell is while we may not like the idea that some folks go to hell, the witness of the Bible makes it clear that Jesus believed in that reality and taught about it, as did the Apostle Paul, even though Paul never used the word hell in his writings.  The most helpful reminder Chan and Sprinkle offer is it isn't up to the "clay" to tell the "Potter" what to do.  God is infinitely greater than we are.  His ways and thoughts ARE higher than ours, so we need to get with His program, rather than trying to figure out ways to get Him to go with ours.
