I'm on a Francis Chan kick the last couple of days, and Forgotten God is one, powerful book! Chan takes on the importance of the Holy Spirit in his usual engaging and challenging way. As I read it, I can honestly say, I didn't read anything I didn't already know, but Chan challenged me to renew my relationship with the Holy Spirit and to step boldly into His promises. I appreciate that Chan doesn't call us to a "balanced" approach to the Holy Spirit, but to a biblical approach. When we do that the results can only be radical and transformational. While all three of Chan's books read easily and challenge deeply, Forgotten God is the one most likely to motivate us to the kind of changes in daily living that will cause ripples in our homes, work places, communities and eventually the world. And isn't that what God calls us to do! |
