As we conclude our week of focusing on taking the Good News of Jesus to the world, the question "Who will go?" continues to echo in our ears. It's so easy to say, "Here am I, send someone else!" We've talked of reasons (excuses) for not going, of the rewards of rejection, but in the end it comes down to this: If we know, we MUST go. We can't pass on the assignment to the professional evangelists and missionaries, because there aren't enough of them--AND each of us is called to be a witness of the truth, life and love of Jesus that we've received. If every, single believer on the planet would tell two or three people the Good News of Jesus, the whole world would have heard the Good News! I understand that pockets of unreached people remain and it isn't as simple as turning to a neighbor and offering them the Good News. Yet if each believer would simply turn to a neighbor and offer the Good News the task of fulfilling the Great Commission would be completed so much sooner. After all, we've had 2,000 years to fulfill the simple command of Jesus to go into all the world and make disciples of every nation. How sad it is that folks without the Good News are often so much more eager to share their brand of religion than we are to share the life-giving news of God in Jesus Christ. If you've never told anyone the Good News of Jesus, or shown anyone the Good News of Jesus make TODAY the day. After all, the blessings of sharing our so great, (See Romans chapter 10!), and the risks are so small (and we receive a reward for rejection!) that we have literally nothing to lose and everything to gain when we do! Let's pray: Heavenly Father, Thank You for giving us the best news ever, news worth sharing! Fill us anew with Your Holy Spirit that we will have the courage to share it with someone. Glorify Yourself in our lives that Your Kingdom may grow. This we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. |
