Are you ready to worship? I know, I know, it's only Saturday evening, not Sunday morning. (Or you may be saying, "Why is it Saturday evening and not Saturday morning when I get this?). Anyway, I usually devote Saturday's post to focusing on the importance of preparing for worship, and this one's no different. ereHere's my question for this evening: Are you going to get enough rest, so you'll be ready for worship tomorrow? That may seem like an odd question, but when it comes to living our lives to God's glory, it starts with rest. I've pointed out before that in Genesis one, in the record of creation, we're told there was EVENING and then morning, when each day of creation is recorded. Why? Why is evening first? One could conjecture because there was no sun for morning to take place until after creation, so it was sort of a permanent evening prior to that. But I read somewhere once that God wanted us to recognize that our day starts with rest, and that when we wake up in the "middle of the day" God's already been at work all night. Everything begins and ends with God. That's why we worship Him! I like thinking of it that way, because it reminds me that while we're significant, because we are the pinnacle of God's creation, He is always the focus. I hope you'll get some rest tonight and join us tomorrow at 8:45 or 10:15 a.m. as we celebrate God's glory and focus on How We Worship God Together, as we bring the 40 Days of Community to a close! Let's pray: Heavenly Father, Thank You for being worthy of our worship and praise! We do worship and adore You, in Jesus' name. Amen. |
