One of the best means of showing love to anyone is through communicating with him or her.  The same is true of God.  God wants us to talk and listen with Him.  In fact, Psalm 116:1-2 reads, "I love the Lord because He hears and answers my prayers.  Because He bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I have breath.  Psalm 116:1-2 (NLT)

God "bends down" and listens to us.  He's eager to hear what we have to say to Him, whether we're happy or sad, or angry, or joyful or whatever!  Just as we want to hear what our loved ones have to say to us, God wants to hear what we have to say to Him.  Talking to God shows Him we love Him.  When we love someone we want to be with that person and share the thoughts and feelings of our lives.  We also want to know their thoughts and feelings.  That's the second part of communicating with God--listening.  It's easy for most of us to talk to God, especially when we want or need something.  But God wants us to listen to Him as well.  A one-sided relationship isn't a love relationship, so if we truly love God we'll talk to Him AND we'll listen.  Take a moment right now to consider do you talk AND listen to God regularly, occasionally, or rarely?  What do you need to do right now to move to the next level in your communication with Him?  Whatever it is, make the commitment to do it, because loving God is the most important activity of our lives!

Let's pray:  Heavenly Father, Thank You for being worthy of our worship and praise!  Thank You for always listening to us when we come to You.  We pray this day that You'll fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we may also desire to take the time to listen when You speak to us, and then to do Your will.  This we pray in Jesus' name.  Amen.
