God ALWAYS fulfills His promises. That's why He's God. He is ALWAYS faithful, ALWAYS true, ALWAYS good. Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, God promised to send a deliverer. Remember, God always fulfills His promises, but not always in the time frame we would hope. When the angel, Gabriel, appeared to Mary, he announced the fulfillment of God's promise to send a deliverer: 31You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. 33And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!” Luke 1:32-33 NLT The name Jesus means Savior. The Son of the Most High means GOD. The throne of David means Jesus would be King. His eternal reign and Kingdom mean He is most definitely a deliverer--THE Deliverer! What a fulfillment to God's promise. It's been 2,000 years since the fulfillment, and Jesus IS our Savior, our King, our God. One day He will fulfill another promise--to return to claim His own and establish His eternal reign. Until that day we can be sure that as always, the promise WILL come true. What promise of God do you need in your life right now? Do you need hope? Do you need to know that God is present? His word is full of promises. Take some time today and read it. Then take some time tomorrow and the next day and the next. I've been saying for many years there's a major difference between trying to do something and training to do it. As followers of Jesus we're not trying to read God's word, or trying to learn his promises--we're training to read and learn. In fact, In 1 Timothy, the Apostle Paul reminded Timothy that physical training is of some benefit, but spiritual training is of value for both this life and the next! (See 1 Timothy 4:7-8) Training produces transformation in both the physical and spiritual realms. Trying produces frustration. Take some time to ask God to empower you to train for godliness. Let's pray: Heavenly Father, Thank You for always fulfilling Your promises! Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we may live in those promises and be empowered to train day in and day out to be godly men and women. This we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. |
