After Jesus told the disciples they would all desert Him and He would be left alone, He made the most important statement imaginable: Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me. John 16:32b. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me....We are NEVER alone. Isolation is the devil's tool and yet, at our cores those of us who know Jesus as our Savior and Lord are NEVER isolated Right before Jesus ascended into heaven, after His death and resurrection, He told the disciples, "...I am with you ALWAYS, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:20b If Jesus wants us to know anything, He wants us to know that we are never alone. He modeled that for us right before He was arrested, tried, beaten and crucified. All human help abandoned Him, yet He was not alone. Even as He hung on the cross and shouted, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?" Jesus knew despite the moment when He took all human sin upon Himself, when God, the Father, had to turn away, He was not alone. We've all felt abandoned. We have all been abandoned by friends, family, by those we thought would always be there. But God has never abandoned us. With Jesus, we can say, "I am never alone." Whatever we're going through in life right now, whatever causes us to feel or be alone, isolated, God is there. As Jesus put it another time, "I will never leave you, nor forsake You. Why do you think Jesus made it so clear He is always with us, that He will never forsake us? Because He knew the feeling, He knew the reality of being left alone, all alone by others. In those times, the assurance of the Father's presence was enough. It is still enough. What are you going through right now that makes you feel or be alone? Are you calling out to Jesus? Are you leaning into the truth that He IS with you? The chief reason we can take heart, that we can have hope--no matter what, is the reality of Jesus' presence ALWAYS. We are NEVER alone! Praise the Lord! Let's pray. Heavenly Father, Thank You so much for Your presence in every moment of our lives. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit right now that we may be assured of Your presence and that we may have the power Jesus had to endure and overcome every situation. This we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. |
